HN Motion DTL-S Platform – Dual Traction Loss & Surge Motion Base

The DTL-S Platform is a compact 3DOF motion base designed to provide yaw, sway and surge using three of our standard actuators.

Each actuator has 150 mm total travel, with the system configured to use 100 mm working stroke, which is more suitable for this type of motion and allows faster response with good control.

What These 3DOF Do

Yaw (traction loss)
Reproduces rear grip breakaway and rotation of the car.
You can feel when the rear starts to step out, making it easier to catch slides, control drifting, and understand the limit of the tyres.

Sway (lateral movement)
Moves the rig left and right to simulate cornering forces and weight transfer.
This gives a clearer sense of direction changes, vehicle balance, and how quickly the load builds up in a turn.

Surge (longitudinal movement)
Provides forward and backward motion under acceleration and braking.
Helps with braking consistency, throttle control, and feeling the car’s pitch without relying only on visual cues.

For Sim Racing

Together these three axes improve:

• Car control at the limit
• Braking reference and trail braking
• Traction on corner exit
• Catching oversteer earlier
• Overall consistency and immersion

The motion is especially noticeable in low-grip conditions, kerb strikes, and fast direction changes.

For Flight Simulation

The same movements provide useful physical cues for:

• Acceleration and deceleration during take-off and landing
• Runway roll and crosswind correction (yaw + sway)
• Turbulence and side load during approach
• Ground handling and braking after touchdown

Construction

All load-bearing connection components are CNC-machined from T6061 aluminium for high strength, precision and durability.

(Aluminium profile frame mounting brackets are not CNC-machined.)
